Summary Draft 1

The webpage “Rainwater Harvesting 101” from Innovative Water Solutions LLC introduces what is rainwater harvesting (Maxwell-Gaines, 2020) . Rainwater harvesting is essentially collecting run-off from buildings and other impermeable surfaces for future use. Conventionally, the rain will be collected in gutters that channel water downspouts and into a storage unit. It can be both a simplistic system like collecting water in a rain barrel or as complicated as harvesting rainwater into a large cistern to supply an entire household. Traditionally, rainwater harvesting usually conjures up a primitive image of an old farm cistern or thoughts of developing countries. The reality is that many other countries are adopting this method as it is proving to be a viable method in supplying water (Maxwell-Gaines, 2020). As stated by HDB (“Water Conservation”,n.d), rainwater harvesting will be introduced as an alternative to boost water resource efficiency in public housing. Though rainwater harvesting

Introductory Letter

Dear Professor Brad Franklin Blackstone, My name is Galven Yeo and I am writing this letter to formally introduce myself. An interesting fact about myself is that I enjoy being active. I regularly go to the gym and participate in various sporting activities such as basketball and frisbee recreationally. I am someone who enjoys trying new activities and challenging myself. I strongly believe that it is one of the best ways to learn new skills. gain new knowledge and to improve oneself. I graduated from Temasek Polytechnic back in 2020 with a Diploma in Mechatronics, specializing in automation. Over  the course of 3 years, I honed various engineering skills from 3 fields; m echanical, electrical and robotics. Since young, I have always had great interest in engineering. I was always fascinated by the buildings around me and how devices such as our phones came about. My interest grew exponentially with the advancement of technology and more innovative structures like Marina Bay Sands

Task 3: The Importance of communication skills for engineers

"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter." Gilbert Amelio, former President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp Having outstanding communications skills is critical to all great leaders. As a leader needs to be able to convey his message and knowledge across to all his followers. If the leader is unable to open up channels of communications, there will be a lapse in accuracy when it comes to the information presented.  Without being able to deliver the message accurately with the right sense of urgency and eagerness, it will be very difficult to lead the team to success and stay on task throughout a project or task assigned to the group. Hence, I agree with the author that having exce
